Membership Grades

There are three levels of Membership
based on qualifications and experience.

AFFILIATE

An introductory grade. Affiliate Membership (A.Para.Soc) is for someone who works in the law or is interested in doing so but has no formal legal qualifications and less than three years practical experience.

MEMBER

An intermediate grade. Membership (M.Para.Soc) is granted to individuals who can demonstrate relevant qualifications for their role and/or at least three years practical experience in a Paralegal role.

 

FELLOW

A senior grade. Fellowship (F.Para.Soc) is available to individuals with a high level of experience, a significant qualification in their field (usually level 6) or can demonstrate at least 6 years practical experience in a senior Paralegal role in a Firm or running their own Paralegal business.

AFFILIATE MEMBER

There are no minimum requirements for Affiliate Membership.

This Membership grade is available to anyone who has been working in a Paralegal role for less than three years and does not have a relevant (Level 4) qualification.

NB Individuals interested in becoming a Paralegal may also join as Affiliates.

 

 

Full Membership is available to an individual who has been working in a Paralegal role for at least three years or works in a Paralegal role and has a relevant Level 4 qualification.

The Paralegal Society Onboarding team will assess their work experience and any qualifications to determine the appropriate Membership grade.

 

Fellow Membership is available to senior Paralegals. Applicants will usually require a qualification at Level 6 or equivalent in their field or six years relevant experience.

Fellow Memberships may be offered to those running their own Paralegal Law Firm or working at a senior level in other organisations.
